How Do I Get 1% Better Today?

The answer – By using the phenomenon called “clustering”. It has been found that behaviors,
attitudes, and even health/wealth outcomes tend to form in social clusters. In other words,
“Birds of a feather flock together.” If I want to get better today, I can add one
successful/positive person to my group. I do not have to talk to them daily but having a
conversation once a month will be helpful in adding that person to my cluster.

1% of a day is 14 minutes and 24 seconds, so start with that. Find one person we can add and
talk to them for 14:24 a week or month. Over the course of 52 weeks/12 months this will add
up to considerably better.

If I want to be happy, I need to find a happy friend. My chances increase 25% just by being
around them. The adverse is true as well, if I want to be negative, I need to surround myself
with negative people. (Aint gonna happen)

Lastly, the “contagion” effect (which the social clustering has been given the name “social
contagion”) is usually relevant up to three degrees of separation. In other words, my friends,
friends, friends have a bit of influence on me. So, this is even more the reason to be careful who
comes into my circle.

Choose wisely.
