A vision statement looks forward and creates a mental image of the ideal state that an
organization or human wishes to achieve. It is inspirational and aspirational. It acts as a
guide to lead us, motivate us, and help us overcome obstacles. With a compelling
vision we can overcome any adversity.
I believe our vision is our big dream. When you wake up, what excites you and makes
you want to be better. This is your vision. For a vision to make a difference, you have
to do more than hang it on a wall. For a vision to take hold in oneself or within a team, it
must be spoken frequently. The spoken word has more power than the written word.
You must speak it into existence.
How this happens with our team is by discussing it often. There are not many days that
pass when this is not mentioned with our team. I believe any current HS football player
at Nixa can tell you what our vision is. You must be able to believe it before you can
achieve it. We will speak it into existence. For myself, I say this out loud frequently.
Normally when I am by myself (so others don’t think i am crazy, lol). I speak it so often
that I believe I am one of the best. Not that you have to believe it, but that I believe it
matters much more to me.
