How Do I Get 1% Better Today
The answer – Move in the Right Direction.
10/80/10 Principle says that within any organization, group, or team that 10% of the
group will be less than, 10% will be elite, and 80% will make up the Mountain of
Average. I have found this to be true in various groups/teams that I have been involved
with. We try to eliminate the bottom 10% and move the middle Mountain of Average
toward the Elite group.
I believe if we make the statement that we are ELITE, we can have a tendency to think
we have arrived and become arrogant and complacent. So I like to say that I am at the
top of the Mountain of Average but continuously moving (1%) in the direction of ELITE
day by day.
I believe what’s important is that we are facing the right direction. Whether that’s
physically, mentally, financially, spiritually, or socially; what’s important now is heading in
the right direction. Face the direction of ELITE and move. Every day is not going to be
a great day but we can choose to face forward daily and be better today than yesterday.
